- 525,600 minutes, how do you measure, measure a year?
A 366-day project. My year; through the lens of my camera. Usually including vague rants or song lyrics to describe the events of the day, my state of mind, or feelings of the moment. -

21 out of 366Happy Chinese New Year!! 恭喜发财!!
So in celebration, I went with some of the Waterloo co-ops in Ottawa (who didn’t go home for the occasion) for dinner in Chinatown. Ottawa’s is adorned with this beautiful, and large, gateway.
The food was great, though, we didn’t represent the Dragon with any shrimp dishes…obviously my fault. We didn’t have 8 dishes either…oh no. Seven, close enough right? And that’s lucky in the Western world, so he says to himself. It was delicious and filling nonetheless. The only thing missing was dessert. I was kinda hoping for some fried sesame balls, egg tarts, or rice balls with black sesame paste. Anyways, since Chinese New Year celebrates the arrival of spring, here’s to hoping we get spring-like weather here soon! LOL
For dinner, our group ordered, and shared (please forgive me, I don’t know the actual Chinese names LOL):
- Stir-fried eggplant with garlic sauce
- Shredded duck with vegetables and pancakes
- Breaded fish and pork belly with cabbage and Chinese black mushrooms (it was from their special New Years menu so they called it “Abundance of Food”)
- Crab meat and broccoli with cream sauce
- Steamed vegetable rolls with oyster sauce
- and, of course, steamed rice
Also, random little rant. I really don’t like ignorant people who don’t like things without even trying them first. On top of that, rude, condescending people, who try to impose their culture and what they deem is “right” upon others. UGH. Go back to your hick town and stick to the freaking gweilo Chinese food if you’re gonna be that closed-minded.
